The Ribbon Mic Pre
The
Ribbon Mic Pre is a new preamp designed specifically for ribbon microphones with 83 dB of clean gain and no phantom power. The TRP is an ultra fast, two channel, minimal-path JFET preamp. It's designed to have one of the lowest noise floors available. Eliminating phantom power allows for advantages in minimal path circuitry and the elimination of electronics that induce noise.
AEA R92
The
AEA R92 is the newest addition to the AEA family of microphones. The R92 motor has been designed to optimize AEA's
Big Ribbon™ element to close micing situations. Reduced proximity bass boost and excellent wind blast protection make it suitable for
close micing (6-12 inches)
of guitar amps, vocals, percussion, etc. In addition, the smooth high frequency response of the R88 transducer has been further extended in the R92, making the R92 a unique voice in the world of ribbon mics.
AEA R88
The
AEA R88 is a Blumlein pair of
Big Ribbon™ elements enclosed in a sleek package. It's motor design is derivative of the acclaimed R84 motor with improvments in the high-end response, which was itself inspired by the design of the venerated RCA 44. The R88 is optimized for natural frequency response and precise stereo imaging. It's large ribbon geometry design inherits the extended bass of the classic R44 and critically acclaimed R84 microphones. The clean and smooth treble of the R88 is very flattering to complex tones such as woodwinds, strings, and cymbals. The R88 is an excellent orchestral and choral recording microphone, and shines on studio applications such as horn sections and drum overheads as well.
AEA R84
The
AEA R84 is an affordable
Big Ribbon™ microphone suitable for use by the most demanding audio professional or hobbyist. If you are new to ribbons, you are in for a treat! Experienced users have discovered the R84 is an outstanding general-purpose microphone,
ideally suited for solo and accent work. It is hard to find an application where this mic does not shine. It is a fine example of the natural sound and figure-8 directional sensitivity a quality ribbon mic delivers.
AEA Ribbon Microphones, Stage Prop, Presentation & Decorative Mic Shells, and RCA Ribbon Microphone Parts
Les Paul told us that the 44 is his favorite microphone. You'll find engineer/producers such as Bruce Swedien, Kevin Bacon, Shawn Murphy, and John Kurlander using them around the world. Half the movies scored in Los Angeles now have a 44 somewhere on the scoring stage!
Stage Prop, Presentation & Decorative Microphone Shells
44 and 77 series RCA microphones have exceptional visual impact. AEA manufactures R44 and R77 museum quality reproduction shells and an R-44 Stage Prop shell. Our custom shop also produces mic flags with your names and/or logos and can custom engrave mic shells.
RCA Ribbon Microphone Parts
RCA ribbon microphone repair parts have not been available for years. We reproduce a wide range of parts to the original specifications. Jon Sank, engineer in charge of RCA production from 1960 until the end in 1976, checked our drawings for accuracy.
Modular Microphone Stands
Tall, lightweight, portable stands (as copied by Shure and Beyer) were our first product. Studio crank-up boom stands with wheels, stands that collapse down to suitcase size, 40' stands. Tall to small we have them all.
Modular Microphone Array Positioners
"Location, Location, Location" is the dictum all recording engineers know. Microphone positioning contributes more to project quality than anything except musical inspiration. AEA's microphone array positioners make it faster to find the right spot for stereo or multi-channel mic arrays.
