The KU4 has the unmistakable characteristics of a smooth ribbon sound, yet it is uniquely different. Designed as a modern interpretation of the rare RCA KU3A, it is one of the few ribbon microphones with a supercardioid pickup pattern. Its characteristic upper midrange presence makes it a fantastic vocal mic

Whether it be the smooth brass section of a Hollywood soundtrack, the velvety lushness of a jazz vocal, or the larger-than-life drum sound of a classic rock record - chances are that you will find a 44 ribbon mic used your favorite albums. The R44C is our faithful reproduction of the iconic RCA 44.

The R84 is a passive ribbon microphone that shares many of the unique sound characteristics with its historic predecessor, the R44. Using everything Wes Dooley and the team here at AEA had learned by re-creating the RCA 44, we went back to the drawing board to create something completely new.

The R44CE is the cost effective version of our R44C, featuring exactly the same iconic sound with no exceptions. This is the microphone of choice when pure sound is paramount, but without the price tag of the museum-quality replica. Both microphones are also available with the +6dB "X" option.

Building on the success of AEA’s acclaimed R84 ribbon microphone, our team of engineers set out to once again expand the sonic possibilities of ribbon microphones with the R92 model. Reduced proximity bass boost and excellent wind blast protection make it suitable for close miking of guitar and bass amps.<

The R88 mk2 stereo ribbon microphone is a true Blumlein recording system optimized for recording instruments and ensembles in stereo. An excellent orchestral and choral recording microphone, it also shines on applications such as horn sections and drum overheads

microphones Active Series

The A440 is the quietest high-performance ribbon microphone ever produced. It combines all of the warmth and beauty of the classic 44 with a signal so hot, you’ll have to experience it to believe it. As with the rest of AEA's Big Ribbon™ mics, it needs very little EQ, takes it nicely when you want it.

The R84A delivers the same award-winning sound as its passive sibling, the R84. Its higher output and immunity to impedance-loading offer more flexibility in the choice of preamps, and avoid noise problems in low signal level applications or on stage with long cable runs. The R84A was formally known as the A

The AEA N8 was conceived to render acoustic spaces as faithfully as possible, the new N8 excels in capturing drum overheads and rooms, strings, classica ensembles, and orchestras.

The AEA N22 was designed with the singer-songwriter musician in mind. It provides a great ribbon tone without the need for EQ in most applications. Bridging the gap between vintage and modern, ribbon and condenser, studio and live, the N22 is the perfect companion for musicians and engineers alike.
